The harbour town of Oban has many attractions to visit on your short breaks: from whale, dolphin and seal spotting to walking, cycling and golf. A few minutes walk from the hotel there is a large variety of shops including well-known High Street stores and unique Scottish gift shops.

Oban is known as the “Gateway to the Isles” as it's south pier is the main ferry terminal for car ferries to Mull, Coll, Tiree, Barra, South Uist, Colonsay, Lismore and Islay. A short drive from the Oban Bay Hotel is the famous “Bridge over the Atlantic”. The Bridge was made famous due to the defeat of the Jacobite Army; the Government banned the use of the Gaelic language and the wearing of tartan and the kilt. The Islanders nearby from Easdale and Seil would change from their traditional garb at the Inn beside the bridge before crossing to the mainland. The inn to this day is still known as 'Tigh an Truish' - "the house of the trousers".

Dunollie Castle sits above the town offering spectacular views of Oban Bay and the island of Kerrara. Along with the castle, visitors can explore the museum and grounds.

Oban War & Peace Museum is just off the main high street, this museum is worth a visit as it contains some great artefacts from past wars and stories. The staff are extremely informative and helpful too so worth having a chat to.

Have breakfast with the seals at The Oban Sea Life Sanctuary; see the interactive rock pool, get up close with the starfish, jellyfish then have a bite to eat in the award winning Shoreline coffee shop.
